Imagine that today, among the usual bills and junk mail, you find something special in your postbox – a real, handwritten letter! It is from an old family friend who has finally travelled to sunny Spain. He wants to share his adventures and feelings that are too big for a quick text message.
Your parents are very excited and want to hear all the news. They are asking you many questions to find out every little detail about the trip. Read the letter carefully – you will need to find the answers to their curious questions!

Dear friend,
(1) I’m sitting in my garden back in England, but my mind is still miles away in the Mediterranean. I’ve been meaning to write to you ever since I got back from my holiday! My parents told me you were curious about my trip, and honestly, a simple text message just wouldn't be enough to describe everything I felt. So, I decided to grab a pen and a piece of paper to tell you the whole story.

(2) Last month, I finally swapped the grey skies of England for the bright, golden sunshine of Spain. From the moment I stepped off the plane, the world felt different – the air was warmer, the colours were brighter, and everyone seemed to be in less of a hurry.

(3) I spent most of my time in Barcelona, just wandering through the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter. I didn't want to just look at monuments; I wanted to feel the soul of the city. I remember sitting in a small plaza, watching old men play chess while the smell of fresh coffee filled the air. It felt so peaceful compared to my busy life back home.

(4) One afternoon, I stumbled upon a tiny restaurant and tried paella for the first time. The waiter told me it’s more than just a meal; it’s a reason for families to sit together for hours. I loved that idea. In the UK, we often eat quickly, but in Spain, time seems to slow down. I even started enjoying the siesta – at first, I was annoyed that the shops closed at 2 PM, but I soon realised how lovely it is to just stop and rest during the heat of the day.

(5) My favourite memory was watching a Flamenco performance in a small, dark basement. I didn't understand the words, but the emotion in the dancer’s face and the power of the guitar told the whole story. It was beautiful and raw.

(6) This trip changed how I see the world. It taught me that "home" is just one small part of a much bigger, more colourful picture. I left Spain feeling like a slightly different person, carrying a bit of that Mediterranean sunshine in my heart.

(7) I hope this letter gives you a little taste of the Spanish sun. It’s funny how a few weeks away can make everything at home look a bit different. Give my best wishes to your parents, and I promise to show you all my photos when we meet next time. Maybe one day we can visit Barcelona together? Write back soon and tell me what’s new with you!
Best wishes,
Alex
