A Visit to the Doctor
Last week Anna started to feel ill. At first, she had only a sore throat and a runny nose. She also began to sneeze many times in one day. Her mother asked, “What’s the matter?” Anna answered, “I think I’ve caught a cold.” The next morning Anna woke up with a high temperature and a strong fever. She felt very weak and could not eat her breakfast. Her mother became worried and decided that Anna must see the doctor.
At the surgery, the nurse asked politely, “How do you feel?” Anna said, “I feel very ill. My head hurts, my body feels heavy, and I cannot sleep well.” The doctor checked her throat, listened to her chest, and took her temperature. Then he said, “It is only a virus, not a serious disease. You need to stay in bed for a few days and take some medicine.”
Anna felt happy that it was not a dangerous illness. She went home, stayed in bed, and drank lots of tea with honey. Her mother made her soup and told her to rest. After three days of good sleep, Anna began to feel stronger. By the end of the week, she was almost healthy again. Her mother said, “I am glad you will get well soon.”
