- Shamrock
Shamrock is an unofficial symbol of Ireland. It became famous by St Patrick who used the shamrock’s three leaves to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagans during his mission of Christianizing Ireland. Shamrock is also a symbol of luck, mainly if it has four leaves.

The northern lapwing was declared the Republic of Ireland's national bird in 1990. It is a small dark bird with a white chest and raised feathers on its head.

Saint Patrick was a fifth-century Romano-British Christian missionary and bishop in Ireland. Known as the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of Ireland. Saint Patrick's Day is observed on 17 March, the supposed date of his death.
