Green Travel
(1) For many years, Marcus lived like most people in his city – he went everywhere by car. While it was convenient, he grew tired of being stuck in traffic jams every morning. He also felt concerned about the environment, knowing that his diesel car was releasing harmful gases and contributing to climate change.
(2) A year ago, Marcus decided to change his habits for both his health and the planet. He began by researching electric cars. They are becoming very common in his area, and he likes that they do not produce exhaust fumes, which helps keep the city air cleaner. However, Marcus learned that even electric cars need energy, so he now tries to use electricity from renewable sources, like wind or sun, to charge his vehicle.
(3) For longer journeys, such as visiting his family in another part of the country, Marcus has started taking the train. He finds it much faster and more comfortable than driving. Since most trains in Britain run on electricity, he feels it is a much "greener" way to travel long distances while he relaxes with a book.
(4) However, his favourite change has been his daily commute. For short trips to the local shops or the gym, Marcus now chooses cycling or walking. Although he was worried about the effort at first, these choices helped him stay active and healthy. On days when he is in a rush, he sometimes uses an electric scooter. It is a quick way to move around without releasing any pollution.
(5) By changing how he travels, Marcus has found that his daily life is much more enjoyable. His city feels quieter, and he is proud to play a small part in protecting the environment.
