WRITING
Task 2 (25 points)
You should spend about 45 minutes on this task.
Write between 200 – 250 words.

FILMS VERSUS BOOKS

A lot of young people nowadays think that it is much better to watch a film version of a book than to read it. Write an essay expressing your opinion and providing reasons to support your point of view.
Remember you have to write between 200 and 250 words.

In the notes section we advise you to make a draft of the things you are going to discuss in the essay, this way you won’t repeat yourself and the essay will be much easier to read and all the points will be discussed in a logical order.
An essay is considered to be formal writing therefore don’t use short forms!

Keep in mind limit of words- if you write less than 100 words your work is not counted, if you write only 150 words you can get 15 points from 25. If you write more than 280 words you lose 2 points.

If you do not mention films and books in your essay your work may not be checked. It should be clearly seen that you have understood the theme.

Use linking words which are different than "but", and, "because".
For adding ideas you can use:
Furthermore/ In addition/  Moreover etc.
also/ too etc.

For contrasting ideas use:
On the one hand/ On the other hand/ However/Although etc.

To give examples:
for example/  such as etc.

To conclude:
To sum up/ In my opinion etc.

Introduction.
In the introduction you should give your thesis statement. In this statement you should include your arguments without support. There should be at least 3 arguments- 3 for, one against or other way round.  Your introduction shouldn’t be too long. Start with some general information about films and books, about book adaptions into films. Thesis statement can be the last sentence of your introduction.
Piemērs:
Many incredible books that we all know and love have been made into films for example Harry Potter, Twilight, Willie Wonka an the Chocolate Factory and many more. They are all done very well and are highly enjoyable. But have you ever said to your self when watching them "That scene was not how the book went." Or sometimes the movie changes it completely like the Walt Disney movies or the latest Alice In Wonderland. I am not saying they were changed for the bad. They are very good but not like the book.Or maybe after reading, we will say Twilight as an example, you got disappointed by a character or they missed out a funny scene in the film.
Paragraph 2
Choose the first argument from your thesis statement and write the topic sentence for this paragraph. Then give your support to the argument. Don’t write too general information; try to give your personal experience and examples.
Piemērs:
On the other hand with a book it is almost like your in it. You can make the scene look like what your imagination lets you. I think its maybe more close and personal in a way. That is if you are like me and really get  into the land of the book.
Paragraph 3
Choose the next argument and write topic sentence for this paragraph. Then give your support to the argument. Don’t write too general information; try to give your personal experience and examples.
Piemērs:
On the contrary movies might be more visually dynamic, in that, the scene is there for you and it has the talented actors making their character as like the book and life like. And these days you have all the special effects and 3D. People could say there is not anything that you can get from a book that you can not get from a TV faster – however I disagree. Books are special because they let you imagine all the scenes, how the character looks, they let you create your own world.
Paragraph 4
Choose the next argument and write topic sentence for this paragraph. Then give your support to the argument. Don’t write too general information; try to give your personal experience and examples.
Piemērs:
Also I think it is a little sad when someone says he loves whatever film but does not even know it was a book first.
Conclusion
In conclusion you can give restatement of your thesis and concluding remarks. Your personal opinion should be shown there. Conclusion usually is very short. It can contain a few sentences.
Piemērs:
To sum it up - as much as I adore films, books will always be the love of my life.
